It’s very unfortunate that so many incidents of drunken driving, which results in serious casualties are taking, place frequently.

I’m sure this would continue to happen despite efforts from the government in sending the message through bill boards etc as after a couple of drinks, the youngsters think they are George Bush to some extent.

I have a simple suggestion to make. The people who love to have their drinks should.

a) Leave their cars behind when they know they are going to a wild party and cab it out when returning.

b) Ensure they have a sober friend who would be driving and dropping them home.

A drunken driver is a potential murderer as he cannot perform his tasks without risks and endangers road safety. Drunken driving an illegal act should be governed by stern laws which entail not only levying hefty fines or revocation of license, but also prosecution, same as a criminal offense. Usually, driver escape from the scene as the public gets involved in getting the injured hospitalized rather than snitch the drunken driver and teaching him a lesson. 

Drugs Raid an Eye Wash

A drug, broadly speaking, is any substance that, when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal bodily function.There is no single, precise definition, as there are different meanings in drug control law, government regulations, medicine, and colloquial usage.

The cops are just trying to put up an act by catching the kids and letting the big fish go Scot free. Drugs are available freely and the cop knows it best. I agree that consuming drugs is a crime and the guilty (the youngsters caught) need to be punished.

But its common knowledge that drugs enter the city with the help of the cops in most cases due to the high level of corruption and due to the huge amount of money involved in drugs.

Terrorism: India’s Unending War

While we understand the inefficiency of the politicians, it’s high time to question the change of system.

It is a given fact that the voting system has failed miserably. There is no point in sacking politicians and replacing them with more incompetent politicians. Approximately 90% politicians are hopeless with only handful good ones like P Chidambaram, Manmohan Singh and a few others.

Therefore it would make lot of sense to have the military rule for the time being till terrorism is tackled. The politicians were always shamelessly selfish and would continue to be. There is no point in having faith in them. Its high time we do away with them at least for now.

Why do women opt to put up with wife battering?

Few reasons:

a) They are not financially independent. Therefore they have no choice as they depend on their husband for their next meal.
b) They are not aware of the laws prevalent with regard to the issue
c) They worry about their kid’s future without their husband.
d) In some cases the wife may be educated, employed, still she would not opt out as she is used to certain luxuries like a holiday abroad annually, car, etc
e) Some wives may not opt out as in an Indian society its difficult to settle down again as people look down on separated women unless she is rich or a celebrity.

Few precautions for married women:

a) It’s a must be financially independent. And this is not only to take care from wife beating but also in case of uncertainties like husbands premature death etc
b) Be aware of the rules by talking to a lawyer friend
f) If they have to worry about their kids future, then they must realize that by living in such a disturbed environment the kid would be more affected than by living with a single parent
c) Be practical while taking the decision and rely on reasons like luxuries
d) Please do not care what the world might say as it’s your life at stake and only you should be responsible for your decision. This looking good factor in front of the world cost many of us to suffer just to please the world .

Molestation: The Reasons Behind

In my opinion following are the various factors why such incidents occur:

 

1) Women have become successful in their own fields
2) Women bosses are very common these days
3) Women have become fiercely financially independent
4) Men are frustrated and jealous because of the above points
5) The ugly side of men come out in such situations


The above points coupled with the fact that promiscuity is on the rise these days add flavour. The men then under situations wherein the women are skimpily dressed and intoxicated take advantage and other men who would not have the guts to do do also join in the fun.

The molestation can be compared for the sake of analogy with public lynching when a car accident take place. Most of the crowd are persons who are frustrated as they are not rich enough to own a car. And they remove the frustration on well off men who own cars and have committed an accident.

2) Adults frequently apply their knowledge in practical fashion to learn effectively. They must have a reasonable expectation that the knowledge gained will help hem for future goals.
Example: The proliferation of computer training course which was introduced in 90’s in which adults who were working in companies had to enroll the themselves as to be updated thus the course would teach the basic computer operation.

3) Adults have accumulated life experiences. They tend to favor practical learning activities that enable them to draw on their prior skills and knowledge. They are realistic and have insights about what is likely to work and what is not.
4) Adults have established opinions, values and beliefs which have been built up over time and assumed at following experiences of families, relationships, work community etc thus their views cannot be dismissed but respected.

5) Adults are intrinsically motivated learners They are motivated by the relevance of the material to be addressed and learn better when it is related to their own needs and interests. For learner to be fully engaged in learning their attention must be carefully focused on material presented.


6) Individual differences: Adults learn at various rates and in different ways according to their intellectual capacities, educational level, personality, cognitive learning, learning styles.

7) Adults learn but in a democratic, participatory and collaborative environment. They need to actively involved in what to learn and how to learn.
